"When we decided to sell our home in the middle of the houseing meltdown we did our homework. We could see that clearly people who were selling their homes on thier own although not paying a commision were taking far lower prices for thier homes. We could see a good realtor will pay for themselves. We were in a precarious possision; if we sold quickly enough we would still be able to walk away with some equity and build a new home. "My husband and I had been looking at houses by ourselves for about a month when we came upon one that we really liked. The listing agent was Dawn Mitchell. We called and requested a viewing of the house- which was beautiful, but also a short sale. Dawn advised us that we were welcome to bid on it, but that another bid had been received and it could take a while to receive an answer if we went ahead and bid on the house. Dawn asked us if we had a realtor to help us out since we were first time homebuyers. We told her no, and she offered to help us out. Dawn never pressured us to look at any houses that were away from our budget and scheduled the viewings on the houses we had chosen in less than a week. We met on a Saturday morning and toured 4 houses. The last house that we wanted to tour was actually having an open house that afternoon and their realtor did not want to let us in ahead of the open house. Dawn went ahead and knocked on the door and arranged a private viewing for us, and we ended up purchasing that home! Dawn helped us arrange an offer and where we closed at and walked us through the paperwork for a VA loan. She arranged the inspection and appraisal and even after her part was over and we had closed on the house, helped us with some misunderstandings that occurred with the old owner's since we rented our house back to them for a few months.
